VINEYARD NOTES

The 2021 is a 51/49 blend of two vineyard sites on Seneca Lake. Sawmill Creek is located on the south eastern shores where the warmer mesoclimate provides fruit with riper characteristics. The other half comes from Anthony Road located on the north western shores of where the cooler weather provides acidity and citrus characteristics.


WINEMAKER NOTES

“When Dr. Konstantin Frank emigrated from Europe to the U.S. in 1951, he began to research climate data and concluded that the Finger Lakes was the region most similar to Northern Europe. These cool climate regions have variable weather from year to year which changes the flavor profile and chemistry of the wines.”

“We began 2021 with a milder winter resulting in fewer buds damaged from the cold. This produced a larger grape crop which is allowing us to get back in stock on many of our wines. The growing season in 2021 was more typical for the region with cooler temperatures and adequate rainfall. The wines from this vintage will have crisp acidity balanced by delicate fruit flavors providing great structure. The Reds and Whites should age well as evidenced by our wine library going back to the 1962 vintage.”
