TASTING NOTES

Deep ruby in color, the wine opens with an inviting bouquet of black cherry, ripe plum, and dried rose petals, interwoven with hints of cedar, baking spice, and crushed graphite.
Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc bring structure and spice, while Merlot contributes a plush, velvety core. Pinot Noir adds finesse and brightness, and Blaufränkisch lifts the blend with vibrant acidity and subtle earthiness. Notes of dark berries, cocoa nibs, and a whisper of leather evolve into a long, graceful finish with refined tannins and lingering warmth.

VINEYARD NOTES

Each year, the Lena Reserve is a barrel selection of our finest red barrels. After aging individually for a year, the wines are meticulously tasted and selected over the course of several focused days, blending only the barrels that best express balance, depth, and harmony. The chosen blend is then returned to barrel for extended aging to fully integrate. Each component brings something unique: Cabernet Sauvignon for structure, Cabernet Franc for spice and lift, Merlot for softness, Pinot Noir for elegance, and Blaufränkisch for energy and color.

WINEMAKER NOTES

The 2022 harvest was a special year for us as we celebrated our 60th harvest since the founding of our winery in 1962. The grapes this year were exceptional, albeit low in quantity due to a few -10F nights in January. After overcoming the winter adversity, spring sprung beautifully on time and summer was hot and dry. The dry days and cool nights played a major role in developing aromatic qualities in smaller concentrated berries. The wines from this vintage are profound and striking, combining the best elements of cool and hot vintages collectively.
